ICN South Australia, which is funded by the State Government, accounted for $135 million of that total, with ICN interstate offices bringing in $92 million of work to the State.

ICN helps to promote local businesses by matching buyers with suppliers, to make sure customers are aware of what is available on their own doorstep before they look interstate or overseas.

Minister for Industry and Trade, Tom Koutsantonis, says ICN South Australia has given local companies the chance to participate in a number of major projects and generated substantial employment and sub-contract spin offs.

“As the State Government’s arm of a national industry linkage network, ICN South Australia performs a critical role in helping the State attract and retain skills,” he says.

“In the 2009-10 financial year, $135 million of contracts were awarded to South Australian companies after they were identified by ICN South Australia as capable of performing the required work.

“This equates to over 1350 jobs created or retained in the State.”

Since its establishment, ICN South Australia has facilitated over $967 million in contracts for South Australian companies.

“With over $71 billion worth of major projects currently in the pipeline, we want local businesses to be considered when opportunities come up,” Mr Koutsantonis says.

ICN South Australia is a business unit within the Department of Trade and Economic Development.
